Step by Step Guide to Hydro Dip.
Step 1: Selecting Your Item.
When it comes to choosing an item to Hydro Dip it can essentially be anything you want. Mentioned before it can range from items like phone cases, gaming controllers, and shoes. However when it comes to gaming controllers or anything that has electronic insides make sure you remove the electronic insides before hand.
Step 2: Selecting Your Spray Paint.
When selecting the color of your spray paint you are not confined to one color. You are able to chose multiple colors of paint to be used at once. But it is important to note what type of spray paint you get. Water based spray paint is not recommended to be used for Hydro Dipping because the paint will dissolve before you can dip the item. Oil Based spray paint brands like RUST-OLEUM is highly recommend to be used since the paint will not dissolve in water.
Step 3: Filling Container with Water.
This step is very straight forward find a used and clean container and fill it up with enough water that the item of choice can be completely submerged.
Step 4: Spray Paint on Top of Water.
After finding a container or bucket and filling it water get the spray cans of choice and apply a layer of paint on top of the water. You do not have to spray in a single location you can spray in different locations of the container whilst alternating colors if you are using multiple colors. The water should now have a film like layer on top.
Step 5: Dip the Item in the Water.
After spraying and having a film like layer on top of the water slowly dip the item in the water. When dipping make sure you have gloves on so the paint does not transfer onto your hands. After submerging the item in water lightly shake the item so the excess paint disperses away from item.
Step 6: Let Item Dry.
After removing your item from water set in an area where it can dry. It is recommended to leave the item to dry for 24 hours for the best results and so wet paint does not accidentally transfer over onto your hand. You can use a fan or a blow dryer too fast track the drying process if needed.
Step 7: Safely Dispose of Water.
Finally when you are done hydro dipping you items you can dispose the water in a few different ways. You can dump the water in a drain or dump the water in a dead patch of grass.
